Bass Chords

With all the things that you have to learn as a Bass Player, why would you want to also learn how to play Bass Chords?

Well, for starters, they allow you an in-depth knowledge of how chords are structured and how they work.

It's a great feeling when you arrange a favorite piece of yours for solo bass, allowing you the freedom to express yourself in ways you didn't realize you could before.

Besides the technical knowledge that you gain from knowing how to play Chords, you also develop your ear to hear harmonies in different ways than you once did.

The best thing about them is that they are very easy to learn.

As a bass player, you aren't really expected to know how to play chords, but you are expected to know how they work, how they resolve, and how they are formed. Doesn't it make sense, then, to also know how to play them?

On the following pages, you'll learn about some of the more common chord shapes and patterns. Along with learning how to play them, you'll also learn a bit about each chord and how they function harmonically.

You'll also learn how to build and play your own chord shapes and how to create unique chord voicings that sound good to you!

Lets get started, shall we? :)
