Playing Scales

Scales.

One of the three main tools that all successful Bass Players know.

These are a bit different than either Chords or Arpeggios due to the variable nature of them.

For every Chord or Arpeggio, there are a multitude of Scales that work with them.

For just a Major 7 chord alone, you could play a:

- Ionian (major) scale
- Lydian scale
- Hejaz-kar scale
- Harmonic Major scale
- or a chromatic scale

Those are just a few of the possibilities!

On my Scales part of this site, I've not only written out a bunch of different Scales, but how they work together, their related Modes, and what they work with.

You should take a look there now.
